- About my work:
- I am the co-founder and Managing Director of ADUNA - an Africa -inspired premium lifestyle brand featuring products based on African natural ingredients. Our mission is to breathe the natural vitality, vibrancy and positivity of Africa into the daily lives of people all around the world, whilst creating a virtuous circle which feeds positive social impacts back to the source.
Our brand is also taking a stand for both 1)transforming people's perceptions of products from Africa and 2)creating a new language around the space - one that is projecting positively into the future, rather than being rooted in the past.
Prior to founding ADUNA I spent four years living and working in West Africa, where I set up and managed Gambia is Good, a horticultural marketing company working with over 1000 small-scale producers. In 2008 the enterprise won a United Nations World Business & Development Award, a UK National Charity Award for International Development and a Virgin Responsible Tourism Award.
It was in The Gambia that I discovered my passion for combining entrepreneurship with development in Africa. Before founding ADUNA I spent a further two years exploring the space, consulting for several other high social impact entrepreneurial projects - Baobab Fruit Company (Agri-business, Senegal), Jacana Venture Partnership (Venture Capital, Ghana), World Bank (Mango exports, The Gambia) and Mobile Transactions (M-Banking, Zambia)
