Design strategist interested in social and economic change through design and education, based in South Africa.
I primarily do research and forecasting to determine future design strategies to align with business strategies. What that means in plain English is listening to people and finding out the best way design products or services that are beneficial, not only to them but also the company in the long term. I look into sustainable solutions that are empowering, benefit people, increase profit and find solutions for the planet.
I specialize in design research in Africa for European, Asian and American design teams.
I'm new to the group but would be very interested in starting a dialogue. I'm in the nascent stages of developing a project in SA and would love your input in the future. Though I'm in Chicago now, I've spent about 9 months in SA and the opportunities for innovative and impactful projects seem boundless.
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm hoping to get more involved on this network. But to answer your questions, I studied in Durban and worked in Capetown and Joburg for short periods of time. My experience in SA has been in mobilizing the non-profit and business community in addressing hunger and poverty in the country. Currently I work in brand strategy and integrated marketing and am interested in doing some work in SA around the WC2010. Let's definitely stay in touch.
David - if you're still interested I've started a blog around the World Cup and CSR - and it's received a good response. Please check out www.WorldCupCSR.wordpress.com or follow me at Twitter at www.Twitter.com/WorldCupCSR and please feel free to pass on to interested friends. I'd love your perspective on what I've been writing.
