Dear Dr Blecher, I have been in touch with your colleagues at CIDA regarding your entrepreneurial students. I have sent two business women there from Hong Kong to speak to the students. Their report on their return from SA has sparked considerable interest in Hong Kong. We have managed to come up with two full scholarships to study at a university here for the students and are currently working on bring them here on a regular basis for internships. Due to the nature of interest in CIDA, I wonder if you would be prepared to come to Hong Kong and assist us in promoting CIDA and our internship programme for its students, by talking to the business and academic communities. Another group, Xcel has also offered to sponsor CIDA students to attend CIDA I can be reached at Tambon@foreign.gov.za or tembitambo@yahoo.com. Best wishes.

Hello Dr. Blecher,

I’m a new member to this network and was interested to see that you are fighting poverty through entrepreneurship development. I too am working to equip Kenyan youth with skills to start up and manage their businesses.

I don’t know about South Africa, but the Kenyan education system is focussed on drumming in information, but leaves our young people ill equipped to deal with life. They are lucky if they get jobs and even then, there are high rates of enterprise mortality in their businesses.

I would like to hear more about your work. But in the meantime, I will check out the institutions you listed on your bio and see if I can replicate some of it here.

All the best, Fiona

Dear Dr Blecher

I am inspired by your work at CIDA and would like to introduce myself. I work for the University of Applied Sciences, North-Western Switzerland, School of Business. I've been living in Switzerland for ten years now but still have strong links to SA.

However, having phoned CIDA in an attempt to contact I was a little disappointed to hear that you have left that organisation? In fact, I wanted to approach you/CIDA to discuss possible (depending on government approval) Swiss investment in the school. Now I am not sure how to proceed.

In any case, I am pleased to have found this way of contacting you and look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards
James McMenamin
