Thank you for your connection.
Is FGM on your agenda?
I know a little bit about FGM in Cameroon, but I need to know about groups there who are working for its eradication.
I belong to End FGM Now, a new group about to be registered in UK. Our mission is
High Level Advocacy to bring this taboo subject into the headlines,
to foster a Global Coalition of anti-FGM groups,
to create a Forum for FGM groups to share their experience and expertise,
To end FGM by 2020.
We have a wonderful leader, Julia Lalla-Maharajh, who is dedicated to this cause after working as a volunteer in Ethiopia and Kenya. Julia won a competition to take the issue of FGM to the Davos Debates in January, where she made this topic world news.
She is a first rate ambassador for our cause. Please see www.endfgmnow.org, the videos of Julia and the actual Davos Debate that she participated in.
In End FGM Now we intend to make progress through grassroots community organisations using local people to listen to the concerns about breaking with tradition and to address ways of changing attitudes sensitively, with messages of the benefits that ending FGM will have on girls, women, men and the whole community that they live in.
I f you can help us with micro-loans to the "cutters" to help them with other sources of income, or put me in touch with local people who wish to end FGM, it would be wonderful.
I look forward to hearing from you.
my warm regards
Lyndal Bale
Oxfam's focus on financing is to work out how to enable financial institutions to fund SMEs. Our work is currently at an early stage, where we are just beginning to talk to financial institutions.
Best regards
Gerry
Thanks,
